The emphasis of the design is on the vertical, with long 

narrow slits and angled walls terminating is sharp points. 

--> Huge holes are cut into the building making the apartments

within burst out of the confines of the wall. 

More subtly, brick walls are seen as a means for the exterior 

to penetrate the interior.
